Entrepreneurship students from Austria visit CIT
27 January, 2016
A group of 25 international students from the Management Centre of Innsbruck (Austria), visited Cork Institute of Technology’s Bishopstown Campus last Wednesday, January 27, as part of a weeklong trip around Ireland in which they visited some of the more prominent business and institutions in the country.
The students first visited the Nimbus Centre, where Dr. Breda Kenny, head of the Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence, gave them a presentation about the evolution of the entrepreneurial world in Ireland in the last decades, as well as the current opportunities and expectations for the future. Breda also informed them about the strategies and projects currently being developed by the CIT, and especially by the Hincks Centre.
After a coffee break, the students resumed their visit and made a tour inside the Rubicon Centre, Ireland's premier business incubation premises. George Bulman, the Rubicon’s Operations Manager, guided the visitors, explained to them the day-to-day life of the building and gave the opportunity to chat with some of the entrepreneurs who are currently running successful projects at the centre, such as Dog Day Media, a video and animation Production Company, and Think Visual, an innovative visual arts project.
Overall, a very good experience for the students, not only coming from Austria but also from countries such as Germany, Spain or Finland, which gave them a brief but thorough insight of the work that is currently being done at CIT around the theme of entrepreneurship.
