Enactus CIT and Churchfield Community Trust to work together for Social Development

Churchfield Community Trust and Enactus CIT have joined forces to make social impact on individuals and communities by utilising the resources and expertise available in CIT. Churchfield Community Trust is a Cork based organisation that helps providing people in rehabilitation from addictions, as well as ex-convicts, with training and work, having had great success and results to date. Churchfield Community Trust is also the Northside for Business Social Enterprise Winner 2016.
Churchfield Community Trust and Enactus CIT have built a strong relationship to date with many exciting projects underway. Enactus CIT students have been tasked with various projects based on a needs assessment carried out on site after initial meetings. Students will be making improvements in the area of hospitality and catering for their beautiful glass garden café. Students will also be addressing improvements in the area of horticulture for the onsite garden centre and growing area. Churchfield community trust also has 2 workshops where individuals’ upskill and design beautiful handcrafted furniture and items. Students will be aiding with new designs and new markets to explore.
The team leader for Enactus CIT on campus, Rebecca Robinson has been appointed to sit on the Churchfield Community Trust Committee where she will act as an advisor in the area of social innovation on behalf of CIT. Rebecca is very excited by this opportunity and believes she can facilitate positive impacts on both the students experience in CIT by encouraging students to get involved in such initiatives as well as positively impacting Churchfield Community Trust by the transfer of skills and expertise between both CIT and Churchfield Community Trust.
