RÍSAM SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED FOR SMART AGEING PROPOSAL

RÍSAM SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED FOR SMART AGEING PROPOSAL

26 March, 2018

Congratulations to Sarah Davis on being offered a place on the Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) Rísam PhD Scholarship Programme at a presentation evening on Monday 26th March in CIT. The Rísam Scholarships are offered on a competitive basis for research proposals that are aligned with CIT's Research Prioritisation areas.

Since successfully completing her research masters, Sarah has worked as a project researcher in the Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence. A recent European project that the Hincks team were working on sparked a keen interest in the ageing economy and the role of entrepreneurial skills training for the target group.

  • Title of research proposal: Smart Ageing and Renewal through Entrepreneurial Skills Training
  • Supervised by Dr Breda Kenny and Dr Aisling Conway from the Department of Management and Enterprise in the School of Business.

Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) invites applications from all across the institute each year for the Rísam PhD Scholarship Programme. The Irish word Rísam, meaning “to strive or achieve”, underlines the purpose of this scholarship programme which is to promote high-end research directed towards the generation of new knowledge or original applications of existing knowledge. To date, only two participants have been awarded the scholarship in the business discipline. Sarah is the second successful applicant from the Hincks centre to be awarded this opportunity. Ciara Lavelle O Brien is nearing the end of her scholarship this year, studying the Implications of Female Role models in entrepreneurship education.
