The Student Incubation Programme, also known as Student Inc., is a programme set up to support and encourage student entrepreneurs to develop new business. This three month accredited programme is run over the summer months in the Rubicon Centre at CIT.
Students receive seed funding of €4,000, exposure to start-up companies, business plan related training and mentoring sessions, skills development and fully serviced office space. They also have contact with the Enterprise Interns who can give guidance and allow access to useful resources and information.
This year saw 12 students from a range of different study areas including, tourism and hospitality, engineering and business. The undergraduate students are from various years and can use the 5 credits as part of their future studies.
During her recent presentation (June 7th, 2018) to the group of students, Dr. Helen McGuirk, Head of Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence explained the process of gaining the 5 ECTS credits and outlined details of the assignments and learning objects of the module. Helen will also facilitate a number of workshops with the group on - ‘How to Identify, Attract and Keep Customers’.
