Hincks Centre Outlines Proposed Research
13 March, 2019
On March 13th 2019, Lisa Murphy, lecturer from the Department of Management & Enterprise and Hincks Centre researcher, outlined proposed research on Social Entrepreneurship at the Annual Enactus Faculty Advisor Forum in Bank of Ireland, Baggot Plaza, Dublin 2. This research is jointly undertaken with Dr. Helen McGuirk, Head, Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence in CIT.
The research focuses on the question; “Is Social Entrepreneurship Education a "nice-to-have" or a "must-have" with respect to developing entrepreneurial intention for socially minded students in HEI's?” The Forum gave us the opportunity to discuss the proposed research with peers whose feedback was invaluable. Sticking with the research theme, research by Dr.Emer Ní Bhradaigh & Dr.Ciarán Dunne, DCU, was presented by Emer. The research focuses on evaluating “Enactus criterion and the Role of a Faculty Advisor”.
The Keynote speech was delivered by Szilvia Szabo, co-founder of the Responsible Innovation Summit, and was followed by an Enactus update delivered by Liam Redmond, Country Manager, Enactus Ireland. Then Prof. Aileen Pierce (Enactus Ireland) & Sarah Tully (Bank of Ireland) held a general discussion pertaining to the topics of; how to motivate students to join Enactus; stay and pursue viable projects with social impact; and how to identify student leaders. All present contributed to ideation activities related to the topic.
All in all, a very worthwhile day of feedback, brainstorming and updates and a great opportunity to meet with Enactus colleagues and catch up ready for the National finals on May 30th!
