In a major national initiative supported by the Higher Education Authority, the Athena SWAN (Scientific Women's Academic Network) Charter was launched in Ireland in early 2015. It recognises organisations' commitment to, and progress on, equality and diversity, particularly race and gender.

Today, CIT received news that it is to receive the Athena SWAN Bronze Award.
