The Hincks Centre was proud and delighted to take part in sessions with the Technological University International Advisory Panel that visited the CIT Bishopstown Campus this week.
Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) and Institute of Technology Tralee (ITT) have been working towards achieving Technological University designation and the creation of Munster Technological University (MTU) since 2013.
In February this year, CIT and ITT submitted a formal application to the Minister for Education and Skills to seek designation as Munster Technological University. The application was considered in accordance with criteria established under the Technological Universities Act 2018. The HEA invited the Advisory Panel to evaluate the application including site visits to Cork and Tralee and meeting with relevant stakeholder groups.
The Architecture Factory at CIT's Bishopstown Campus hosted the Undergraduate student exhibitions and Interactive sessions.

The HEA will consider the Advisory Panel’s report and make a recommendation to the Minister for Education and Skills, who will make the final decision on designation.
This decision is likely to be made in the second quarter of 2019.
