Dr. Ana Cruz García presented her current research on Childminding at the 2019 ISBE conference (Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship) in Newcastle on November 14.

In her paper titled “Childminders: Informal Postfeminist Entrepreneurs”, Dr. Cruz García foregrounded the reality of childminders as informal entrepreneurs, their motivations and limitations and the impact of their profession on society, mainly on the lives of the parents whose children they mind.

The paper was included in the track “Gender and Enterprise” and it was very well-received by the audience. It sparked some interesting debate on the different positioning the governments of Ireland and United Kingdom are adopting regarding regulation and financial support of the childminding sector.
