SATN / Ireland research colloquium 14-16th Oct
Over eighty researchers met to discuss such topics as Innovation Hubs, Space, Circular economy, agriculture and food security at the inaugural SATN / Ireland research colloquium in Durban South Africa this week - 14-16 October 2019.

Research colleagues from five Irish institutes of technology (CIT, WIT, GMIT, TUDublin and LIT) travelled to Durban to join researchers from ten technological universities from across South Africa. The purpose of the three-day event was to

  • showcase current research activities in both countries
  • enable colleagues collaborate on new projects, and
  • to prepare for the next colloquium where the newly formed research groups will present their work.

Participating in the colloquium, the Hincks Centre are delighted to be part of the thematic session on curricula for the 4th Industrial revolution. This project will also support our work on another SATN / Ireland project which delivers an accredited short course on Entrepreneurship to students and faculty in South Africa.

We are looking forward to supporting the second colloquium, which takes place in CIT in June 2020.

The Colloquium is supported by the Irish Embassy in South Africa, Ireland’s THEA (Technological Higher education Association) and South Africa Technological Network (SATN).
