Prioritising the Most Needed Skills
17 June, 2020
NS4NA - New Skills for New Artists, is a project identifying the skills needs of modern artists and providing training to address these gaps. Currently, NS4NA is in the needs identification phase of the project. As part of this phase and to establish the status quo, the courses currently available to music students are reviewed and benchmarked.
The project meeting on June 17, attended by the Hincks Centre's Niall O'Leary, saw the commencement of the process of prioritising the most needed skills. This prioritising exercise will entail engaging with external stakeholders to gain a range of views. This exercise will inform the design of a course to meet the needs of modern music students and musicians. The Hincks Centre will be contributing particularly by informing which entrepreneurial skills are likely to be of most benefit for musicians’ career success.
