Are you a Musician Looking to Enhance your Skillset?

01 September, 2021

Are you a musician looking to enhance your skillset? Do you want to develop your marketing and entrepreneurial skills for your next musical project? Would some music technology skills like lighting and streaming also help?

Following the success of the New Skills for New Artists (NS4NA) pilot course earlier this year, we are delighted to announce a second course from October to December. The course will help you identify and develop a business idea related to your music practice with 3 topics integrating your business, technology, and marketing considerations to help you make your ideas more likely to succeed.

The free course will be a blended experience with 1 live class in MTU’s Cork School of Music in Cork City centre and 1 online class which will be linked with participating groups in Belgium and Spain.

The course will consist of 3 topics:

  1. Entrepreneurial and business approaches to musical idea creation, assessment, development, and management;
  2. Technology, home recording, lighting, audio-visual, streaming, creative uses of technology and
  3. Social media and marketing including branding, tools and measuring effectiveness.

The three topics will guide you to establishing a business plan for your project; the technological knowledge you will need to implement it and a strategy to reach and grow your audience.

Applications for this course are now closed.
