Rural Femmes: Empowering Rural Women

Rural Femmes: Empowering Rural Women

10 September, 2021

The Erasmus+ funded project RuralFemmes is addressing gaps in the training that is available to rural women.

Following research in 2020 (survey, focus groups, expert consultation), we have been preparing a novel curriculum to meet the needs of rural women. The curriculum seeks to fulfill two main goals:

  1. Develop rural women’s basic transversal skills (digital, entrepreneurial, interpersonal, etc.) and
  2. Address specific technical needs for each activity sector (such as rural companies, sustainable farming, tourism, etc.)

This Autumn, we are piloting this free course for women in rural Ireland and we invite rural women interested in developing a range of relevant skills to participate.

6 main topics will be covered by 3 instructors:

  • Rural Entrepreneurship - Dr Niall O’Leary;
  • Rural Tourism - Dr Ana Cruz Garcia;
  • Social Media - Rebecca Robinson;
  • Online Sales - Rebecca Robinson
  • Data Protection & Online Safety - Rebecca Robinson and
  • Sustainability & CAP & The EU Green Deal - Dr Niall O’Leary.

The first session will take place on Sunday, October 3rd with the final session in the first or second week of December. The course will be delivered online on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings from 6 - 7pm and recordings will be available for those unable to attend some sessions. Networking and connecting with other rural women will be encouraged in group exercises and we have a platform for participants to engage with each other between classes.

Applications for this course are now closed.
