1st Years Pitch in Business Model Canvas Competition

1st Years Pitch in Business Model Canvas Competition

10 December, 2021

Since September, 2021, first year students have been working in teams with the Student Enterprise Interns, Carole O’Leary - Innovation & Enterprise Office, the Rubicon Team and their module coordinators to create an innovative idea and prepare a Business Model Canvas (BMC) to pitch their idea.

On the 10th of December, first year students presented their ideas and their BMCs where they highlighted the various elements that they would need to bring their new product/service to market. Students chose one member of the team to deliver a 1-minute pitch. The Hincks Centre was delighted to attend and witness such innovative ideas and professional pitches. The total number of first year students that were involved was 958.

Students from the following courses took part in this year’s BMC Competition:

  • Creative Digital Media
  • Visual Communication
  • Biomedical Science

Students pitched an array of innovative ideas. However, a common theme ran though the presentations with students highlighting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) they tackled as part of their idea.

There were 3 very worthy winners on the day:

  • Highest Impact: Community Gardens
  • Best Pitch: SAS Spiking
  • Best Commercial Idea: Bromosphere

Congratulations to all entrants and best of luck to all those who decide to progress their ideas.
