2022 OECD LEED Conference

Cork City was the location for the 2022 OECD LEED conference. OECD is the Organisation of Economic Co-operation & Development. In collaboration with MTU, CETB, Cork City and County Councils, Cork Chamber, UCC and SOLAS, the event attracted over 300 delegates from 40 countries. Celebrating 40 years of the LEED programme (Local Employment and Economic Development) the three-day event was held in City Hall, MTU’s Cork School of Music and UCC’s 1 Lapps Quay.

 

   

 

Helen McGuirk from the Hincks, spoke on a panel with Sergio Arzeni - International Network for SMEs (INSME), Italy; David Halabisky - OECD; Debbie Barwick - NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce, Australia; Guillem Aris - Autoocupacio, Spain, and John Buck - CEDEC, Canada. Discussing regional development and expanding entrepreneurship opportunities for all, the panel discussion heard about social enterprises, training initiatives for youth unemployed, the silver economy and female entrepreneurship training.

 

   

 

On Wednesday evening, conference delegates were enthralled by the performance of ‘Energy in the City’ an ensemble of local, traditional musicians and dancers who provided the entertainment after the conference dinner hosted by Cork City Hall.
