Hincks Hosts Senior Eco-Nect Partner Meeting

09 December, 2022

The Hincks Centre were delighted to host the second partner meeting for the Horizon Europe Senior EcoNect project on the 8th and 9th of December. We welcomed partners from Spain, Belgium, France, and Slovenia.

Head of the School of Business, Dr Breda Kenny and Head of the Hincks Centre, Dr Helen McGuirk opened the meeting. Emer Coveney, National Programme Manager, Age Friendly Ireland, and Bridgette Brew, Recreation Operations Manager at Coillte, delivered a joint presentation showcasing the first age friendly tourist destination in Europe - Beyond the Trees Avondale, Co. Wicklow. The tourist attraction opened to the public in June 2022. Following the presentation, the partners discussed project outputs and milestones.

On day two of the event, the Hincks Centre welcomed the Older Persons Council and the Associate Partners (Southern Regional Assembly, the Discovery Partnership and Community Enterprise Association Ireland) of the Senior Eco-Nect project, who all delivered presentations explaining their work and how it relates to the silver economy. Two internal MTU research groups, Hex-Spo and the Circular Economy and Regenerative Tourism Research Group, presented their work and future plans to the group. Lively discussions were followed by an inclusive game of walking soccer and new connections were made at this successful partner meeting.
