Hincks in Galicia, Spain

07 November, 2023

The final ecosystem visit under Senior Eco-Nect took place in Galicia, Spain, alongside the project’s Mid-term Event and Forum RIES (#RIES23).

On the evening of the 7th of November, the Senior Eco-Nect project partners met in Barcelona to discuss the progress to date and the upcoming key milestones to achieve before year end. The next key deliverable for MTU was the Market Study.

The Market Study for the Senior Eco-Nect project delves into the silver economy ecosystem at the EU level, analysing the aging population's current status and its impact on economic, health, and social indicators. The study uncovers the rapid growth of the aging population, changes in population structure, and the position of older individuals in the labour market. Additionally, it examines their reported status and consumption patterns in healthcare and related sectors like tourism. The market study outlines silver economy development by analysing public and private expenditures, labour market needs, healthcare, long-term care and education sectors. It employs some results from the SWOT Analysis conducted for the project to highlight stakeholders' perspectives on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, providing insights into the silver economy's present and future development.

November 8th marked the beginning of VIII Fórum RIES 2023. The social visit (a boat ride along the Vigo Estuary) and a Business Lunch preceded the Senior Eco-Nect Mid-Term Event at 16:00, where results were shared with an engaged audience and stakeholders. The day concluded with the #RIES23 Gala Dinner, during which CSG awarded the two best practice cases from Galicia included in the Senior Eco-Nect Handbook.

The last day focused on the #RIES23 keynotes, round tables, agoras, and project presentations, centred on Innovative Care Ecosystems, the theme for this year, all which aligned with the Senior Eco-Nect project.
