All About EEUK

12 June, 2024

Today, Rebecca Robinson represented the Hincks Centre in her capacity as Enactus MTU Faculty Adviser when she travelled to Portal in Trinity College, Dublin, to meet Dave Bolton and Ruth Rowe from Enterprise Educators UK (EEUK).

Rebecca was invited to attend the interactive workshop and informative presentation about EEUK and the All-Ireland Regional Sub-Committee, through the EEUK’s partnership with Enactus.

Rebecca met with like-minded colleagues working in the area of Entrepreneurship Education from Universities across the Island. There were representatives from South Eastern Regional College, Downpatrick; Queens University, Belfast; Ulster University, Belfast, and Trinity College, Dublin.

Very interesting topics arose during the course of our conversations such as the language used in EE, EE in the Arts and the Gig Economy, EE reluctancy, EE assessment, current research, EE attitudes, youth entrepreneurship motivators and trends, educating for the entrepreneurial graduate, The EntreComp Framework and the ECT Toolkit to enhance enterprise and entrepreneurship education. Discussions relating to the differences between the EE landscape in Ireland V’s Wales and Northern Ireland gave great insights as to where the challenges exist as well as the potential new opportunities.

Discussions also brought about great synergies between the goals and intentions of the other members, resulting in Rebecca sharing her insights and information on current research and projects such as GET-AHED, DigitalSkillsWallet, ScreenME, CresCine, NEAR and NEAR2 Research as well as the Hincks Centres work with the National Forum on Educating the Educator and it’s upcoming iteration. Participants were also interested to hear about Rebecca’s Masters Research Thesis and results relating to The Impact of Entrepreneurship Education on Graduate Employability.

Rebecca said she is “delighted to be a member of EEUK and looks forward to working with likeminded individuals working towards a common goal to see what impacts we can achieve”.
