Hincks Centre Showcase at OECD Local Development Forum

24 September, 2024

Hincks are thrilled to have been invited to UN City Copenhagen and Malmö Live by the OECD Local Development Forum to showcase four of our innovative projects over two days in Copenhagen and Malmö.

The forum, a gathering of policymakers, practitioners, and innovators focused on creating more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities, provided an ideal platform for Hincks to share its expertise. Four of the center's flagship projects were highlighted: GET-AHED, MTU Hincks Student Enterprise Camp, WeRin, and SILVER SMEs.

These case studies will now be featured on the OECD - OCDE Places Portal, further solidifying Hincks' reputation as a leader in entrepreneurship education and development.

Beyond the presentations, Hincks representatives, Dr. Helen McGuirk and Rebecca Robinson had the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals from around the world. They exchanged ideas, learned about cutting-edge approaches to local development, and gained valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing communities globally.

Helen and Rebecca also had the opportunity to attend insightful panel discussions on such issues as, engaging youth in the just transition, working across borders and addressing labour and skills shortages to name a few.
Helen and Rebecca had the opportunity to visit two inspiring projects during the Forum: Yalla Trappan in Malmö, Sweden, and Havhøst - Ocean Harvest in Copenhagen, Denmark. These initiatives showcased innovative solutions to local challenges, providing Hincks with additional inspiration and ideas for its own work and making connections for the Blue Shuttle project.

The Hincks Centre's participation in the OECD Local Development Forum is a testament to its commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and creating positive impacts.
