LEGO® Serious Play with Dept. of Marketing and International Business

LEGO® Serious Play with Dept. of Marketing and International Business

29 October, 2024

Rebecca Robinson, a researcher at the Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence at MTU, was invited by Katie Power, Head of the Department of Marketing and International Business at MTU, to lead a unique workshop for the department's staff. This engaging session, which used LEGO® Serious Play, invited participants to explore the department’s identity in a creative and collaborative way, focusing on its mission, vision, and culture. Notably, this workshop marked a milestone for Robinson, bringing her total facilitation reach with LEGO® Serious Play to over 500 participants since her certification in April 2022.

During the two-hour workshop, 25 to 35 participants used LEGO® bricks to construct physical models representing their ideas and attitudes, fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment for strategic thinking. The hands-on activities allowed participants to express and deepen their perspectives in a memorable, tangible form, supporting open dialogue and shared understanding within the department.

By embracing innovative methodologies like LEGO® Serious Play, MTU equips its staff and students with the creative skills and mindset essential to navigate an ever-evolving world. This approach not only enhances collaboration but also drives forward-thinking innovation within the university community.
