Rebecca Robinson, Research from the Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence joined over 50 delegates from 1 Namibian and 10 South African technical universities for a transformative five-day workshop in Johannesburg focused on entrepreneurship education. The Entrepreneurship Educators Programme (TEEP) Pilot Workshop, running from January 27th to 31st, was launched by the Technological Higher Education Network South Africa (THENSA) and part funded by the Embassies of Ireland, and Finland in South Africa.

The workshop, a key component of THENSA’s Entrepreneurship Educator’s Programme, provided educators with the knowledge and skills needed to integrate entrepreneurship principles into their teaching across various disciplines. The program aimed to foster a new generation of entrepreneurially minded students capable of creating successful businesses and contributing to economic growth.

The pilot workshop immersed participants in a dynamic blend of learning, collaboration, and hands-on application. Experts from South Africa, Finland and Ireland, led sessions exploring relevant topics. Facilitators led discussions, research and reflections on the entrepreneurial landscape in South Africa, Entrepreneurial Mindset & Skillset, Design Thinking and Mentoring, providing educators with practical tools and strategies to inspire future entrepreneurs.

The TEEP Train-the-Trainer workshop is a crucial part of THENSA’s broader initiative to promote entrepreneurship among students. By equipping educators with the necessary skills and knowledge, the program seeks to create a ripple effect, empowering them to instill an entrepreneurial spirit in their students and contribute to long-term economic development. The workshop's success underscores the growing recognition of the importance of entrepreneurship education in shaping the future of South Africa's economy sharing examples of best practice from some of the leading countries in the world for entrepreneurship activity and education.
