MTU Enterprise Camp 2025

MTU Enterprise Camp 2025

15 October, 2025

Unlike previous years, the 2025 Cork Camp shifted from the summer holiday period to the school term, running across six days in October (Sept 6–8 and 13-15). This change allowed 192 second level students from 12 schools across Cork city and county to experience the expertise our staff has to offer in the area of entrepreneurship and sustainability, as well as receiving a unique, first-hand and specialised experience of what university life is like on MTU Bishopstown campus. The Camp had changed its design to allow for more consistency in its delivery as well as maximising the number of students who could attend from across the city and county.

The camp focuses on the Triple Bottom Line, teaching young entrepreneurs that success is measured by more than just profit. Also known as the three Ps (People, Planet and Profit), the Triple Bottom Line refers to the idea that a company's performance should be evaluated on not just financial profit, but also on its impact on people and the planet. This framework encourages businesses to consider the long-term sustainability of their operations by focusing on three pillars of success: economic, social, and environmental.

A central pillar of the 2025 Cork Camps is inclusivity. MTU is deepening its collaboration with Foróige, Ireland’s leading youth organisation, to recruit students from DEIS schools across Cork city and the rural county in order to provide more opportunities to students from disadvantaged and regional areas.

"For many of these students, this will be their first meaningful connection with the University," says Camp Coordinator, Rebecca Robinson. "We want to bridge that gap by showing students that University and the experience offered is an achievable and life-changing path."

The Camp uses high-engagement tools and activities to help students navigate complex problem-solving, engage in communication, design, creativity and presentation skills. By the end of the one-day Camp, participants will have developed skills in high-impact storytelling and presentation techniques and learned about how to integrate the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) into business ventures, experienced the MTU Campus, lunch in the main canteen as well as experienced a “feel” for university life.
