International Conference to Showcase Digital Solutions for "Greening" Higher Education
23 October, 2025
The consortium of the Erasmus+ funded project GET-AHED hosted a major international conference, "Advancing Sustainability in Higher Education," at Munster Technological University (MTU) on October 20–21, 2025.
The event marked a significant milestone for the GET-AHED (Green Education and Transition – A Higher Education Digital Buddy) initiative. The project's primary mission is to empower Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Europe to navigate the "green transition" through a suite of innovative digital tools.

A Platform for Institutional Change
Central to the conference will be the unveiling and demonstration of the GET-AHED platform, which includes three core components:
• HE Green Assessment: A self-assessment tool providing actionable insights for universities to measure their sustainability performance.
• HE Green Training: A curriculum designed for students, staff, and management to foster green skills.
• HE Green Zero: A resource library focused on helping campuses reduce energy consumption and transition toward net-zero targets.

Expert Insights and Global Networking
The two-day program features a robust lineup of keynote speakers and academic paper sessions. Highlights include:
• Keynotes: Prof. Mark O’Hara (EAIR & Advance HE), Henriette Stoeber (European University Association), and Verena Rohlf-Liszt (University of Applied Sciences Burgenland).
• Opening Remarks: Expected from MTU President Maggie Cusack.
• Thematic Sessions: Discussions will range from behavioural change and digital tools for student development to strategic institutional frameworks for embedding the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
