Innovators Gather in Gothenburg: A Milestone for Sustainable Entrepreneurship

22 August, 2025

The Chalmers Sustainable Entrepreneurship Training program reached its grand finale this week after 12 months of working together and testing various sustainable entrepreneurship education strategies.

Our final in-person meeting spanned three days from August 20–22, the gathering at Chalmers University of Technology and served as both a finish line for a year of innovation, brainstorming and creativity as well and a starting block for the future of the ENHANCE Alliance community.

After a year of bimonthly online meetings, the transition to an offline environment injected a new level of energy into the ENHANCE+ Train the Trainer Program. While the digital space kept the momentum alive, the in-person workshops in Gothenburg allowed for deeper reflection and discussions that only happen when innovators share the same room.

A Year in Review: Production and Comradery

The wrap-up kicked off on Wednesday with a focus on the "Yearbook"—a collective documentation of a year’s worth of trial, error, and breakthrough. The afternoon was dedicated to "production time," where teams worked to ensure that new challenges developed throughout the year were recorded for future cohorts. Participants noted that despite hailing from different institutions and facing unique local challenges, the group found striking similarities in their work. This shared knowledge transformed a group of individual educators into a cohesive unit of collaborators.

Demo Day: The Spirit of Innovation:

Thursday was the Demo Day. The atmosphere was electric, showcasing the radical teamwork that defines the ENHANCE Alliance. From Ata’s challenge to Tillie’s final demo, the pitches were less about individual glory and more about the collective intelligence of the group. "The biggest value is the community we've built," shared one participant from the Gdańsk University of Technology. "We aren't just learning; we are creating a bridge between cohorts, ensuring that the best practices we’ve gathered here will inspire the next generation of educators."

Looking Ahead: Strategy and Beyond

The final day focused on the horizon. With insights from the Vice President of Utilisation, the group transitioned from "what we did" to "what we will do." The discussions on Future Strategy Planning highlighted a community that refuses to remain static, challenging assumptions about what sustainable entrepreneurship can achieve in the coming years.

The week concluded not in a boardroom, but in the field, with visits to Evia, an innovative company utilising hemp in building materials and then off to scenic Särö, allowing the innovators to decompress and celebrate the bonds forged through months.

Special thanks were extended to the Chalmers Team, including Kristina Dobricic, Karen Williams-Middleton, and Martin Lackéus, for their seamless organisation and for fostering an environment where sustainable entrepreneurship can truly thrive.
