Rebecca Robinson Shares LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Expertise at MTU Seminar Series

21 April, 2026

The semester’s final installment of the Design Thinking for Innovative Services seminar series at Munster Technological University (MTU) concluded this week with a deep dive into inclusivity, hands-on innovation, and ethical engagement.

Rebecca Robinson, representing the Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence, joined fellow guest lecturer Joanna Dukkipati to provide students with a "double treat" of industry insights and academic research.

The Power of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® As part of the Hincks Centre’s mission to drive entrepreneurship through bespoke education and collaborative research, Rebecca Robinson led a session focused on the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) methodology. LSP is more than just a creative exercise; it is a facilitated meeting, communication, and problem-solving method where participants lead through their hands. By building 3D models of complex challenges, the process:

  • Boosts Confidence
  • Ensures every voice in the room is heard equally and inclusively
  • Supports Kinaesthetic Learning
  • Breaks down barriers for those who learn better through doing and tactile interaction
  • Solves Complex Problems:
  • Provides a structured way to visualize goals and team dynamics in high-pressure situations.

"LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® encourages creative thinking and mutual understanding in an inclusive way," noted the seminar organiser, Sarah Davis. "It addresses wide-ranging challenges in team-working where building towards a goal can often feel difficult."

The collaboration between the Hincks Centre and the wider MTU academic departments highlights the university's commitment to creating user-focused, innovative services.

By bringing real-world methodologies like LSP into the classroom, the seminar series has broadened students' knowledge of inclusive design, preparing the next generation of innovators to tackle societal challenges with empathy and practical skill.
