TEEP - THENSA ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATORS PROGRAMME 

 

The THENSA Entrepreneurship Educator’s Programme (TEEP) Pilot Train-the-Trainer Workshop is aimed at equipping higher education educators with the knowledgeand skills necessary to integrate entrepreneurship principlesacross disciplines in their learning and teaching practices throughout universities in South Africa.

TEEP is part of THENSA’s initiative to positioned to create successful businesses throughout South Africa. By supporting educators in introducing and promoting entrepreneurship among their students, TEEP is envisioned to contribute significantly to economic growth within society.

After 18 months of development by the dedicated TEEP facilitation team, the team delivered a five-day workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa, from January 27th to 31st.  International experts from Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and Durban University of Technology (DUT) in South Africa, JAMK University of Applied Sciences in Finland, and the Hincks Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence at Munster Technological University (MTU) in Ireland facilitated these sessions with the content they created. 

Fifty entrepreneurship educators from universities across South Africa and Namibia participated, exploring topics such as:

  • Design Thinking for Entrepreneurship Educators
  • Entrepreneurial Landscape in South Africa and How it Compares Globally
  • The Entrepreneurial Mindset & Skillset
  • Perspectives of a Student Entrepreneur
  • Financing and Funding
  • Mentoring the Entrepreneur

Entrepreneurship educators enjoyed a dynamic blend of research-led learning, cross-university collaboration, peer learning and hands-on application providing educators with the practical tools, strategies and a network to inspire their teachings.

The workshop was part-funded by the Embassies of Ireland, and Finland in South Africa in conjunction with The Technological Higher Education Network South Africa (THENSA).
